This project was one we did after spring break, before going into our huge project on immigration. It was centered around family, as well as studying how to write spanish sentences correctly spelled and with correct grammar.
We were to,
Pick 10-15 family members/relatives
Create a family tree
Artistically represent the family tree
Whether it be pictures/photos/drawings
Each person has a name labeled, and relationship you hold with them labeled as well
Write 2 sentences for each family member in spanish
It must describe them, or tell something about them
If you have more than 20, write only one sentence about
My Project: I picked a lot of my family members for this project for my actual family wasn't big enough. I needed to pick some relatives, and so I ended up doing most of my relatives in this project. I got to decrease the amount to just one sentence per relative. I created a large poster of my family tree with circles that had my own drawings of people in them.
Features
Small flags representing where they are currently living
Drawings of my relatives
Hearts representing if they had a spouse
Lines connecting the relations between one another
Halos representing the ones who passed
Reflection: I really like how we got to incorporate both art and writing spanish into this mini project. It was really a challenge regarding the sentences, for as you can see above I messed up a lot on gender endings. It made me better since I can now remember the frequent mistakes I do when I write in spanish. I have always liked projects where people can show more about themselves, and I thought this was a good example of that. I loved seeing all the different family posters and seeing everyone's different ways of representing their families. Some people painted, some people printed out photos, some people drew. It was all interesting, and it was a good way to practice our spanish.
Future? If I were to do this again in the future, I would be much more careful when it comes to the sentence writing. I could've corrected these mistakes very easily, but I had procrastinated and rushed it, and wasn't able to get someone to actually check it.
