The first project we did in math was focused on quadratic equations. Since it was the first thing we learned about, we decided to center a project around it as well as implementing the sports element into the project. Both in humanities and math, we were beginning to get introduced to sports.
We were to be put in groups of three, and were given a specific sport and problem. Nick had many different sports with a different type of quadratic equation for each. My group was with Alec and Sammie, and we got the diving equation. We were to solve the problem and were required to visually represent that to the class. We decided to make an animation. Alec created the story, Sammie finalized the math, and I made the art.
We had to answer the questions,
At what point does he hit the water?
There is no audio for it because the narration was done live
Improvements Made? The only improvements we received from Nick was for the equation. It was difficult to solve at first, but we were able to do it after receiving help. Reflection: I really enjoyed the project because I was able to use art and that was something I really liked. I thought that it was interesting because I was able to implement a passion into my school work. I was very happy with the outcome of the video, I thought we worked hard and that we thoroughly explained the project correctly.
Future: I would have liked to put music and to have already recorded narration by Alec, but of course it didn't happen. Maybe next time we would prepare more and actually have a full video that could run on it's own without explaining anything.
