This is the last project we did in spanish. It was a huge month long project in which we incorporated all our previous knowledge on immigration and created huge presentations.
The project was about different groups focusing on one problem in immigration for Latin America. Whether it be drug trafficking, human trafficking, children left behind, etc. It could have to do with the United States as well. We were to conduct a lot of research to then make a hugely realistic solution, with costs, laws, etc. explained. We were then to create a presentation showcasing our problem, the research on it with support, as well as our realistic solution. We would be presenting to actual attorneys and actual immigration officers.
Things done prior for this project:
Read Enrique's Journey
Watched democracy now videos
Writing stories based on immigration
Lectures on El Salvaor/Colombia/Mexico/Argentina
With our group we were...
Conduct a lot of independent research on a problem happening in Latin America
Pick a main problem to focus on with our whole group
Do many research papers and worksheets that really gather facts for our topic
Create a solution for our problem
Showcase it to people in a presentation
Our Project: Connor, Me, Zion, Alex W.

Here is our full link list, it was really what made the difference in this project. Improvements? In general it was difficult to create a working solution. That was what we got the most critique about. It was hard to decide on one that was appealing to any side of the equation, and that made sense lawfully and financially. We got a lot of critique from other groups, Mr. H, as well as juniors that came in to help us. We had to change our solution once because we lacked information on it and we didn't fully understand the laws correctly. Once we understood the I-130, we were able to create a better working choice.
Reflection: I really enjoyed this project. I learned so much and worked with great people. Initially I didn't know how I'd feel about the project with the people I was paired with, for I didn't work with them often. But surprisingly, we were able to work well together, and we are now good friends with one another. I worked with Connor, Alex W and Zion. They all contributed really well and were really encouraging to me and helped a lot. Connor thought of our problem, and I worked with all of them for the solution. It was a very difficult project, for I didn't know much about law, and it was a very crucial part of the whole thing. I was so confused with all these immigration laws and I-130, but after a lot of research it was okay. I was able to understand later, but it was really frustrating not knowing how all the laws worked. I think being confused and doing research on it not only helped me understand it but helped me teach others how to understand it. I was able to break it down for myself, and then I did it for other people during the presentation. I thought we all presented well, the questions were nerve-wracking but we were able to go fine. We got a satisying grade on the project. I was really happy with my group and this project. I made some new friends and I also got a lot of good information on new things.
